Police launch "Tie One On" to crack down on impaired drivers

On Friday, Nov. 21, 10:30 a.m., the Plainville Police Department will conduct a joint press conference with the Mothers Against Drunk Driving. The purpose of this media event is to kick off the holiday season, "Tie One On For Safety"  red ribbon campaign.

The Plainville Police have joined partners with MADD in their efforts to eliminate impaired drivers from localstreets. The Plainville Police Department was the only town in Connecticut that was honored for the second year in a row by the Connecticut Chiefs of Police Association and MADD, as having the Best Overall Impaired Driving Program in the state.

The public is welcome to the press conference, which will take place at Plainville Police Headquarters located at 19 Neal Court in Plainville.

Representatives from every town agency will be represented and red ribbons will be placed on all Town of Plainville vehicles to show support for MADD's program. Town Manager Robert E. Lee, Assistant Town Manager Shirley Osle and members of the Plainville High School Student Leadership Group will be attending. 

The Plainville Police will kick off their enforcement efforts with a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday, Nov. 22, 7:30 p.m. to 2 a.m., off Route 372 in Plainville. Officers will be distributing red ribbons and literature supplied by MADD in an effort to educate the public on the dangers of impaired driving.
