Plainville police charged two 15-year-old boys with breach of peace Thursday and they were suspended from Plainville High School after they made a threat to take violent action against others.

Police went to the high school Wednesday after someone reported that a threat had been made by the teens. Investigators worked throughout the day talking to students at the school and at the police station to find out more information.

Police Capt. Peter Costanzo said it was claimed by some students that there was a "list of names;" however, nothing like that was found. The two teens charged did not have a weapon, nor did they "have the means to carry out the threat," Costanzo said.

School and police officials said rumors were flying throughout the day and a statement was e-mailed to students and staff via the schools' communication system to set the record straight.

Costanzo, the police department spokesperson, said that police did not overreact to the situation. "We take these things seriously, especially since Columbine and Virginia Tech, he said, referring to two places where students went on a rampage and killed classmates.

Kathleen Binkowski, superintendent of Plainville Community Schools, said there would be an expulsion hearing to determine the final decision on the two teenagers' status in school. It is likely that they will be expelled, officials said. They were not identified because they are minors.
