With 4,953 voters on the rolls, 1,935 came out to vote today despite no "top of the ticket" names. Instead voters elected members of the Board of Finance, the Board of Assessment Appeals, the Planning and Zoning Commission (regular and alternate) and the Zoning Board of Appeals (regular and alternate). (These are unofficial results until certified by the town clerk.)

Route 10 reopens after crash
A woman driving on Route 10, known as East Street, in Plainville got a big surprise Wednesday afternoon when a section of an utility pole came crashing down on the hood of her car and then she drove over the pole.
"She was very lucky it didn't go through her windshield," said Sgt. Charles Smedick, head of the Plainville Police Traffic Division.

Relay For Life 2009 kicks off with laughter, tears, memories
It was a night set aside for motivation, laughter, tears, great food - and most importantly - fighting cancer.
On Wednesday, Jan. 15, more than 80 members of Plainville and surrounding communities gathered at J. Timothy's Taverne to celebrate the kickoff for the 2009 Relay For Life of Plainville.
